Come discover Renoir’s The Luncheon of the Boating Party. Participants explore the historical surroundings of this famous painting and bring the characters to life. Discover ways to entwine Literacy and the Arts for any grade level. Handouts feature complete assessment and evaluation tools for students. (Adaptable for a variety of grade levels.)

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:  

We all know that warm-ups lead to a better class... but do you know why?  Learn how sensory processing problems can hinder learning. Participate in activities designed to “even out” the students with special needs in your class and leave you feeling focussed, energized and eager!

Presenter Biography

Karen Tompkins was the Department Head of Arts and Languages and Drama Teacher at Essex High School for 16 years. Most recently, she has been teaching Special Education in Windsor, Ontario.  She has facilitated workshops for International Drama Educators Association, Council of Ontario Dance and Drama Educators, and several Universities, including her alma mater, The University of Windsor’s Drama in Education program.
